Mount Nebo

Mount Nebo is one of the most revered holy sites in Jordan, believed to be the place where Moses viewed the Promised Land before his death. According to the Bible, God showed Moses the Promised Land from this mountain but told him he would not enter it. Today, visitors can stand at the same viewpoint and see a panorama stretching from the Jordan Valley to Jerusalem and Bethlehem on clear days. The site features the Memorial Church of Moses with its exceptional collection of Byzantine mosaics, as well as the symbolic Serpentine Cross sculpture representing the bronze serpent created by Moses and the cross upon which Jesus was crucified.
